Sunday was the final day of my kitchen garden class. The group started in March, the first of a five class series to learn about creative kitchen garden design and how-to plant. In our first class, we sketched out garden designs on paper, followed by a wish list of seeds and plants. For some, it was a first garden, yet others were more experienced gardeners and simply wanted to take a fresh look at new garden designs and update technique. In early April, we ordered seeds, and in late April started seeds in plugs. Today, at Clear Brook Farm in Shaftsbury, Vermont, we bought tomatoes, peppers, chard, lettuce and ornamental flowers to complete our planting plans. Pictured here ( L to R) is Blake, Kristen, (Teacher, Ellen) Maurie, Kim and Tacha. ( Missing is Marilyn, Meg and Marge) We plan to celebrate with a garden tour to show off our new kitchen gardens, and follow up with a pot luck featuring our own home grown fare. Stay tuned for some amazing recipes.
