This time of year, it’s hard to decide whether to eat the harvest or simply arrange it in a basket to admire the natural beauty of home grown food. Instead of writing about food, I thought I would simply share my favorite photos taken by Ali Kaukas for my book, The Complete Kitchen Garden. These are ones that did not make it into the book, yet are spectacular none-the less. They make me want to get out my paintbrush and canvas to capture the sheen on the eggplant, the crimson of the radicchio and the fold of the leaves wrapping around the cauliflower. This vibrant harvest is in it’s prime and not something you will ever find in a supermarket. Grow your own food and be rewarded by both the visual pleasures and the delicious taste that good food brings to your table.
